Bjarnveig is a Member of the Icelandic Bar Association and gives legal advise to domestic and foreign businesses and the Government on EEA Law and other national law, mainly on regulatory compliance of businesses and assisting the administration as to the proper compliance with EEA Law such as free movement and state aid, vis a vis national and international surveillance bodies. Bjarnveig is university lecturer in EEA/EU law and is a member of the EU funded Moves network of experts in the field of free movement of workers in the EEA/EU.
Bjarnveig also provides for general legal advise in the field of personal and family law, such as inheritance, pre-nuptual agreements, paternity and deprivation of liberty cases.

Bjarnveig works both in Icelandic and English and has a fair understanding of Danish and Norwegian.
Background and experience:
Bjarnveig Eiríksdóttir is one of the founding partners of VÍK Law. She has extensive experience in the public sector both in Iceland and abroad. She was a legal expert at the Ministry of Finance for almost a decade and a Senior Officer and Deputy Director in the Legal and Executive Affairs at the EFTA Surveillance Authority in Brussels for a number of years. She has also worked for the Ministry for Foreign Affaris, the Parliamentary Ombudsman and for the Reykjavik City Legal Councel.
Bjarnveig has been lecturing EEA, EC and international Law in Iceland since 2004. Presently she is an adjunct lecturer in European Law at the Law Faculty of the University of Iceland.
