Gretar Hannesson is Partner at VÍK Law Firm. Before joining VÍK, Mr. Hannesson was active in the financial sector, working for banks and investment firms where he provided general legal services and was in charge of interaction with surveillance bodies and the stock exchange. Mr. Hannesson has extensive experience and an excellent knowledge of rules and regulations of banking and finance.
Previously, Mr. Hannesson was an officer at the EFTA Secretariat in Brussels where his field was incorporation of EU Law in the EEA Agreement and negotiations with the EU Institutions. He completed is cand.iur exam from the Law Faculty of University of Iceland in 1997 and was admitted to the bar in 2001. In 2002, Hannesson completed an L.L.M. degree in European Law from Lund University in Sweden. He has also completed a number of courses in the field of Banking and Finance Law.
Mr. Hannesson provides legal services in English and Icelandic and has good knowledge of Norwegian, Swedish and Danish.
